ExpertReviewHQ is built on a straightforward idea: readers should be able to understand how recommendations are made, what influences them, and what doesn’t — without having to take anything on faith. This page explains how that works in practice.
How Recommendations Are Made
Every category review on ExpertReviewHQ follows the same documented process: we identify credible independent expert sources for the category, document which products they recommend, analyze where their perspectives converge and where they diverge — and explain why those differences exist. Editorial judgment is applied only after these patterns are established — never before.
No single expert source determines the outcome. Each category review typically draws from 6–15 independent sources. A detailed explanation of our methodology is available on our How We Work page.
What Does Not Influence Our Recommendations
ExpertReviewHQ earns revenue through affiliate commissions when readers purchase products through links on the site. That revenue supports ongoing research and content updates. It does not influence which products are included, how they are ranked, or how they are described.
Specifically:
- No product has ever been added to or removed from a recommendation based on its affiliate commission rate. Products are selected based on expert consensus. If a recommended product is not available through an affiliate program, we recommend it anyway.
- No brand pays for inclusion, ranking, or preferred positioning. ExpertReviewHQ does not accept sponsored rankings, paid reviews, or compensation in exchange for favorable coverage.
- No recommendation is forced when expert consensus does not support it. When experts disagree meaningfully, we document the disagreement rather than picking a side for the sake of a cleaner page.
Full details on affiliate relationships are available on our Affiliate Disclosure page.
What You Can Verify Yourself
Transparency is only meaningful if readers can check the work. Every category review on ExpertReviewHQ is designed to be verifiable:
- Sources are cited. Every review lists the expert publications consulted, with links to original articles. You can read the same sources we did and see whether our synthesis holds up.
- Consensus strength is stated. We characterize expert agreement as strong, moderate, or limited — and explain why. We don’t hide disagreement behind a confident-sounding recommendation.
- Reasoning is explained. Each recommendation includes the rationale behind it: what experts liked, what tradeoffs exist, and why a product was selected over alternatives.
A complete list of expert publications we consult is available on our Our Expert Sources page.
Updates and Corrections
Expert recommendations change over time as new products enter the market and testing methodologies evolve. We periodically re-survey expert sources and update category reviews when recommendations shift materially. Each category page reflects the most current expert consensus available at the time of its last review.
If you believe any information on the site is inaccurate or out of date, we welcome corrections through our Contact page. A chronological record of published reviews and updates is maintained on our Updates & Changelog page.
